The first palace at Knossos was built around 1900 BC.   This was the capital of Minoan Crete.  The ruins were discovered in the early 1900s by a
British archaeologist.

On our way back to our car, we had to stop and
smell the flowers.  We actually stayed and had
lunch at a small restaurant where we had parked
for the morning.
